Hanbury graduated from Loughborough University in 1996 with a 1st class degree in Mechanical Engineering, before joining Schroder Investment Management. He spent 1 year on the UK Fund Management desk before joining the research department for 2 years as an analyst in the Pan European Capital Goods Team. In April 2000 he joined the Investec Investment Team where he now manages the UK Smaller Companies Fund and is a member of the Global Capital Goods Team. In June 2006 it was announced he had left Investec and would be joining River and Mercantile that October.
